From August 25 to 27, 2026, the Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics Autumn Edition<\/strong> brought textile manufacturers, brands, buyers and industry professionals together in Shanghai. For Wuxi Xianglong Polimer Kuma\u015f Ltd. \u015eti.<\/a><\/strong>, the three-day exhibition was an opportunity to meet customers face to face, present key products, and, more importantly, hear what fabric buyers are currently looking for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our team arrived at the exhibition with a selection of technical and functional fabrics covering outdoor equipment, medical products, inflatable applications and other performance-oriented uses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What stood out during the show was that many visitors were not simply looking for a particular fabric name. They came with a product already in development and wanted to discuss whether a fabric could solve a specific problem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That made the conversations at the booth particularly useful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some visitors focused on waterproofing and airtightness. Others were concerned about weight, flexibility, durability or welding performance. Several discussions went directly into base fabric selection and coating construction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For a manufacturer of TPU Fabric, PVC Fabric and TPU Film, these are the conversations that matter most because they show how fabric requirements are changing at the product level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Busy Three Days at the Shanghai Exhibition<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The autumn edition of Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics provided a broad meeting point for the textile industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For our team, the exhibition schedule was filled with product discussions, sample reviews and conversations about projects that customers are currently working on or preparing to launch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rather than presenting every product in the same way, we paid particular attention to the application behind each inquiry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A buyer interested in a lightweight outdoor fabric may have very different requirements from a medical mattress manufacturer. A company developing an inflatable product may care more about airtightness and welding behavior than fabric appearance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These differences became clear throughout the exhibition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our booth displayed a selection of Xianglong’s coated and functional fabrics, giving visitors the opportunity to compare different constructions and discuss possible applications with our sales and technical teams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The three-day event also provided an opportunity to exchange information about material trends, customer expectations and new product directions with professionals from different parts of the industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

XL 3D Spacer Fabric Attracted Attention from the SUP Market<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

One of the products that received considerable attention was our XL 3B Ara Kuma\u015f<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Its application in Stand-Up Paddleboards (SUP)<\/strong> was one of the topics that generated strong interest during the show.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SUP products need materials that can handle repeated loading and outdoor exposure while maintaining the required structural performance. For manufacturers, the challenge is to balance strength and durability with the flexibility and weight needed for the final product.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is where spacer fabric can offer a useful material structure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During discussions at the booth, visitors were particularly interested in the fabric’s structural integrity, tensile strength and durability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For us, these conversations were also a good reminder that the demand for technical textiles is increasingly connected to the development of new outdoor products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Outdoor recreation continues to create opportunities for materials that can provide reliable performance without adding unnecessary weight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our existing product range reflects this demand, with TPU-coated nylon fabrics available in constructions including 70D Ripstop Nylon, 210D Nylon, 420D Nylon and 840D Nylon<\/strong>, as well as TPU-coated polyester options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The choice between these constructions depends heavily on the finished product.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A lightweight outdoor product may require a different balance of weight and tear resistance than a heavy-duty inflatable structure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That is why fabric discussions at the exhibition often moved quickly from \u201cWhat is the fabric?\u201d to \u201cWhat are you making with it?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

XL TPU Coated Nylon 70D Brings Medical Fabric into the Conversation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The second major product highlight was the XL TPU Coated Nylon 70D<\/strong>, designed for medical applications such as anti-decubitus mattresses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This product attracted attention from visitors working with healthcare equipment and inflatable medical products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An anti-decubitus mattress has a very different working environment from an ordinary textile product. Its air cells repeatedly inflate and deflate, meaning the fabric must maintain airtightness while being flexed again and again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the same time, the surface needs to be waterproof and practical for cleaning and daily care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our medical fabric discussions therefore focused on several properties rather than one specification:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    A Cooling Vest Project Brings a Different Material Requirement<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Another conversation that stood out during the exhibition involved a customer developing a new cooling vest project<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The customer was looking for a fabric suitable for a wearable cooling application and paid particular attention to airtightness and moisture-proof performance<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    At first glance, a cooling vest may seem far removed from medical mattresses or inflatable outdoor products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    From a material perspective, however, there are some common requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The fabric may need to hold air or another cooling medium, prevent moisture penetration and remain flexible while the wearer moves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    This places different demands on the material compared with conventional clothing textiles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Our team discussed possible fabric constructions with the customer based on the intended structure of the vest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The conversation covered factors such as coating, fabric weight, flexibility and sealing performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    This type of inquiry is exactly why exhibitions remain valuable for material manufacturers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    A customer may arrive with a product concept but without a final fabric specification. A face-to-face discussion makes it easier to identify the actual requirements before selecting a material.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    What Customers Are Asking About Is Changing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    After three days at the exhibition, one trend was particularly clear to our team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Customers are becoming more specific about the performance they need from a fabric.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    In the past, a buyer might have started with a simple request such as \u201cTPU-coated nylon.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Today, the discussion is more likely to include questions about:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Which nylon denier is appropriate?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    How much does the finished fabric weigh?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Can it be welded reliably?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    How flexible is it after coating?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Can it maintain airtightness during repeated use?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Is the surface suitable for the intended application?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Can the construction be customized?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    These questions require the fabric manufacturer to understand the finished product.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    For example, 210D, 420D and 840D nylon are not interchangeable simply because all three can be coated with TPU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    A 210D construction may be appropriate when weight is an important consideration. A 420D fabric may provide a more balanced combination of weight and mechanical strength. An 840D construction may be considered when the finished product will experience higher mechanical loads or more demanding outdoor conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    There is no universal \u201cbest\u201d denier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The right choice depends on the product.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    From Outdoor Equipment to Medical Products<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Another point that became apparent during Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics 2026 was the range of industries now using coated and functional fabrics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Industrial and Containment Products<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    Industrial applications may require greater mechanical strength, chemical resistance and long-term dimensional stability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    These applications may appear unrelated, but the material development process is often similar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    First comes the product requirement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Then comes the structural design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Only after that can the appropriate fabric construction be selected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Why Base Fabric Selection Matters<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Several exhibition conversations also returned to one basic question: What should be used as the base fabric?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Nylon and polyester remain two of the most common reinforcement substrates for coated fabrics, but the choice depends on the finished application.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Nylon is often selected where a combination of tensile strength, tear resistance and relatively low weight is required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Within nylon constructions, denier has a direct effect on the overall balance between weight and mechanical performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    For a product manager, selecting 70D, 210D, 420D or 840D should therefore not be based on denier alone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The finished product’s size, expected loading, folding conditions, welding structure and service environment all need to be considered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    This was one of the useful technical topics discussed with visitors during the exhibition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    A stronger fabric is not automatically a better fabric if the additional weight or stiffness works against the design of the finished product.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Customization Starts with the Finished Product<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    At Xianglong, customization is closely connected with the customer’s application.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Our production capabilities cover TPU Fabric, PVC Fabric and TPU Film<\/strong>, with options for different base fabrics, coating constructions, weights and colors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    This allows the material to be adjusted according to the requirements of the final product rather than forcing every project into an existing specification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    For example, an outdoor equipment manufacturer may prioritize weight and tear resistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    A medical equipment manufacturer may place greater emphasis on flexibility, waterproofing and welding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    An inflatable product manufacturer may focus on airtightness and seam reliability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The material solution needs to reflect those differences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    This is also why technical communication between the customer, sales team and engineering team is important during the early stages of a project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    A fabric sample is useful, but the information behind the sample is even more valuable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Three Days, Many New Conversations<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    For our team, Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics 2026 was not simply an opportunity to display products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    It was also a chance to see where customers are taking their products and what they expect from material suppliers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The XL 3B Ara Kuma\u015f<\/strong> attracted interest for SUP applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The XL TPU Coated Nylon 70D<\/strong> generated discussions around anti-decubitus mattresses and medical inflatable products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The cooling vest inquiry introduced another application where airtightness and moisture-proof performance are important.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Alongside these specific projects, we also had many conversations about TPU-coated nylon, base fabric selection, waterproof performance, welding and customized fabric construction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    These discussions will continue after the exhibition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    For some customers, the next step will be sample evaluation. For others, it may involve confirming fabric specifications or discussing a new product structure with our technical team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    That is where an exhibition becomes more than three days on a show floor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    It creates the starting point for work that continues after everyone has returned to their offices and factories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Looking Beyond the Exhibition<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    The textile market is changing quickly, particularly in areas where conventional fabrics are being replaced by materials with higher functional performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Outdoor equipment is becoming lighter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Medical products are placing greater emphasis on comfort and reliability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Inflatable products are being developed for new applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Wearable products are incorporating flexible air and liquid management systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    These changes create new requirements for the materials inside them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
